"Great tutor, very fun to be with"
Michael from Staten Island, NY on 5/14/14
Ms. B is a master at literature and linguistics, and she knows precisely what strategies to teach in order to make taking tests far easier. Furthermore, unlike many other tutors, she is able to make sessions fun and something to look forward to rather then dread. Overall she offers both a very useful and fun experience.

Elizabeth has developed a good rapport with my 10th grader and has been working with her on PSAT reading, not only reviewing vocabulary words but also helping her with homework. Her tutoring style is very engaging and comprehensive, and I can already see an improvement in my child's writing skills. I am looking forward to Elizabeth working with my child through the rest of the school year and perhaps even the next.

"Not very professional"
Alka from Piscataway, NJ on 9/3/13
She was a tutor for my two sons for almost two years but she was hardy ever there on time. In the middle of the school year she wanted to stop tutoring. After lot of discussion on my concern on impact to my son on switching teachers in the middle of school year, she agreed to start. At the end o school year, I asked her if she would like to continue next school year she said yes. And continued to tutor my kids through summer (probably because they were working longer hours with her). And now when the school year is starting she said she will stop tutoring because it is not profitable for her. If she had told at the beginning of summer break I could have found another tutor and my sons would have been used to working with the new teacher. In short I feel cheated. I have also conveyed this feedback in email.
A note on tutoring - I started tutoring with her because I wanted improvement in my sons vocab but that has not really changed based on Terra Nova scores.
Elizabeth replied on 6/6/2014:
I felt that this was an unproductive teaching situation because neither boy was committed to being tutored. They frequently did not complete the work I assigned, and many sessions turned into drawn-out discussions with their mother about why they did not do their work.
I worked with the older boy for two years, and his Language Arts skills did improve, especially in writing. However, as time passed, he became less interested in working with me, and his younger brother was even less engaged. This was frustrating for me as a teacher because our time together yielded so few positive results. I informed the mother about the situation in January, but she was so insistent that I agreed to give it another try. However, there was no "buy-in" from the boys, so the session continued to be frustrating and unpleasant.
By the end of the summer, the geographical area in which most of my students lived had shifted, and continuing to drive to this family's home would have meant that I could not teach several other students who were more committed to the learning process. As a result, I made a business decision that would enable me to work with more students as well as with students who were more interested in utilizing the services I offer.

Maria from East Brunswick, NJ on 5/25/12
Elizabeth has been my daughter’s tutor for about 4 months, my daughter who is in the 7th grade enjoyed her first lesson and ever since she looks forward to her next session.
Elizabeth is extremely patient and uses a variety of methods when teaching concepts. Elizabeth makes each lesson interesting, the way she explains concepts and uses root words and word association makes it easy for my daughter to understand, thus improving her vocabulary, spelling, reading and writing skills. At my last parent-teacher conference, my daughter’s English teacher expressed noticeable improvements in my daughter’s reading and writing skills.
Not only is Elizabeth a highly qualified and excellent tutor, she helps to build my daughter self-esteem which increases her motivation for learning.
I will strongly recommend Elizabeth to anyone ages 5 to 95; she is knowledgeable, kind, patient, funny, reliable and trustworthy.

"Exactly what we need !! "
Michelle from Edison, NJ on 2/23/12
We have been looking for a tutor for my son's writing for a long time. He is doing well at school. We need someone to help him to get his writing to the top. After research, we found Elizabeth based on the reviews we read about her. After talking to her, we thought she was the right fit. But we were still nervous about it before my son's first lesson and worried about how well she fits to my son's needs. Today after the first lesson, it was a big relief !! Elizabeth is very knowledgable and patient. She went over my son's 2 essays in details and help him on how to brain storm the ideas and how to organize them. Exactly what he needs currently. I was a college teacher before. I can tell she is good at what she does. She made the business serious in a fun way for a nine year old. Only his first class, my son already likes her a lot. Her first class definitely exceeded our expectation. We are confident with her help my son will achieve his goal in writing. Thanks Elizabeth.
