I am excited by the prospect of tutoring and helping students achieve their goals. I have benefited first-hand from tutoring as I took an online GRE course last summer. My tutor was excellent, and I would be thrilled to help students just as she helped me. I am graduating from the University of Michigan (UM) on 3 May 2014 with a B.S. in Biology, and I will be starting public health graduate school in the fall. I would love to spend the summer tutoring students. I have strong skills in math, science, writing, and grammar, and I attained high scores on the SAT, ACT, and the GRE (scores available upon request). I look forward to helping students in any or all of the above subjects.
My CV will show that I have excellent leadership and writing skills. I have various work experiences that involved research and teaching other students. I mentor younger women in the sciences as an advisory board member for the Women in Science and Engineering organization at UM, and I often help them with their school work and course planning. As a research assistant at the Wetlands Institute, I led interns in research and conservation activities and educated the public on coastal conservation issues. I have also shown the ability to communicate effectively with people of other cultures, as I volunteered in Ecuador and tutored students in English and environmental science classes. Further, I am skilled at conveying difficult concepts in simple terms, as I have presented my own research at professional science seminars and won multiple outstanding presentation awards. I also have a scientific paper currently under review at a professional research journal.
I feel that my work and teaching experiences have prepared me to be a teacher or tutor, and I look forward to helping students achieve their goals. Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you need any further information.
