My name is Jessica. During college I worked at Score! in SAT Math Prep, and I tutored part time through our tutoring center. Most recently I have been tutoring college engineering students (including my husband who is studying Civil Engineering at NJIT) in Chemistry, Calculus, and Physics. I received my Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins and graduated with a 3.6 GPA; then I got my Master's in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University and now I am almost finished with my MBA at NYU with a 3.9 GPA so far.
I agree that the best way to learn is not in cramming mode, but I also know the reality is that sometimes people are under-prepared as they face upcoming exams. Tutoring can be used as a way to boost grades or SAT scores to make your college application more appealing, but it is also possible that tutoring may be required to prevent failing and re-taking courses, which means wasted time and wasted money. Whether you are the plan-ahead or last-minute kind, I'll be there to help even on short notice. I would love to work with your high school student and hopefully I can serve as a mentor and role model in addition to a tutor. I will go above and beyond to help you succeed.
