I am a Social Studies/History, English/Language Arts, and Special Education teacher with 13 years of classroom experience. Prior to teaching I worked in a law firm as a secretary and billing manager.
In recent years, I have worked as a private tutor at a Kumon Center and a Huntington Learning Center, primarily for SAT Critical Reading and Writing Test Preparation.
In the classroom, I use a lot of technology when I present information to the students, some of which I use in private tutoring sessions from my personal laptop.
I am also an Area Director / Primary Leader for People to People Student Ambassador Programs, a national student educational travel company. My responsibilities include recruitment/selection of both teacher leaders and students for travel overseas, directing a staff of 3 adult leaders, preparing and providing pre-travel curriculum, holding monthly educational meetings for students and parents, and leading delegations of 40+ students to various countries in Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific. My involvement with this program has allowed me to bring a great deal of my personal experience to my students, in the form of photos, artifacts and detailed knowledge of the world and its cultures.
