Hi,
My name is Vilma. I graduated from The College of New Jersey and majored in biology and minored in finance. I have tutored for The College of New Jersey since my freshman year at the college (4 years) as well for over a year for Wyzant.
I have tutored introductory classes in biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, pre-calculus, algebra, statistics, and finance. As a college tutor, usually my pupils have questions prepared to ask me, and I use the textbook to help the student figure out on their own what the answer could be. If the student has trouble, I do tell them how I approach the problem, and then I give them a similar problem to see if they have comprehended the method and can also use it themselves.
I am not limiting myself to college students. I love children and I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with younger children who are in need of help with school subjects or simply young students who are high-achievers and want to move ahead and challenge themselves. Being in school for so many years, I have learned how to prepare effectively for classes and be successful, and I can share my methods with my pupils.
Having attended a magnet high school, I was introduced to challenging courses since my freshman year of high school, so I have a great understanding of the basics needed to be successful in the sciences and mathematics. Having also taken the SATs and MCATs, I can be a great help to students preparing for standardized tests. In fact, I have been a certified instructor for the SATs since February 2012.
I love tutoring and always find myself making good friends with my students and their families. It is very rewarding when I have students tell me that I have had such a positive influence on reducing their stress levels which allows them to prepare more effectively for their exams.
Thanks,
Vilma
