Greetings!
I began my teaching career 16 years ago, working with children who have severe and profound mental and physical disabilities. I taught in a self-contained classroom, in a public school, for 9 years. Throughout this period, I worked in collusion with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, physicians, and parents/families to provide the best, individualized educational opportunities for the learners in my classroom. I currently teach in a regular education, 2nd grade inclusion classroom, where I am the full-day, in-class support teacher. I am able to provide individualized services to students with and without learning disabilities, including students who qualify for gifted education.
I have taught grades Pre-K through 4, and am able to provide tutoring services to children in these grades, regardless of the child's current academic level. I have had extensive training in utilizing multisensory and direct instruction approaches to learning for reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
I tutor throughout the summer and prefer to work 1:1 with students. If you are interested in summer tutoring, please contact me, for these spaces fill quickly. I can also provide support to families, who may need assistance interpreting/understanding the IEP process and/or paperwork.
I believe that if you build a child's self-esteem, teaching them to first believe in themselves, you will set them on a path to endless possibilities. This belief drives my approach to education and my approach to instruction. I look forward to working with you and your child!
