Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

My name is Jessica and I am a very caring, outgoing, and enthusiastic teacher who currently resides in Forked River, NJ. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's as a dual major in Special Education and English from Georgian Court University. The certifications that I hold in NJ are: Teacher of English (k-12) and Teacher of Students with Disabilities (k-12). As of right now, I teach tenth and eleventh grade Special Education English. I have been teaching Special Education English for the past three years. My experience includes Departmentalized Self Contained, Replacement, Inclusion and General Education English. My experience also consists of teaching preschool and first grade Special Education for four years during an Extended School Year Program. I have been a home instructor and tutor for the past four years as well. My hours are very flexible since I will be taking time off from teaching to start a family. I have always had the ability to develop an excellent rapport with my students which motivates them to work harder to achieve their goals.

Some qualities that make me a great teacher are patience, dedication and creativity. I love to utilize technology into my instruction and differentiate to adapt to my students' needs. I like to help students make connections to their own lives which assists them with understanding the material being read. I have built an excellent rapport with my students and can do the same with the students in which I tutor. I have prepared students for the HSPA and have successfully, helped many pass.

I also enjoy tutoring Language Arts, Creative Writing and Poetry. I can assist students with writing any type of essay including Persuasive and Expository. I can even assist you with creating an excellent cover letter and resume and am willing to tutor students who are enrolled in English courses at the college level. I am also available to tutor elementary and middle school students with reading, writing and spelling.

I taught elementary school (grade 1 & 2) during an Extended School Year Program which focused on strengthening the basic skills of students with special needs. I taught elementary writing, reading, science, math, and history.

Study Skills

Teaching Special Education Classes at the highschool level, I taught an additional class period of study skills. I noticed that my students often selected study methods that were not necessarily meeting their needs. I had to make them aware that their needs change over time.
