My experience in tutoring:

I have been a private tutor in various residences for five years, since 2007. I specialize in reading and writing, please see all my certifications for a good match.

My duties have including a three part system: Assess, Progress, Reflect. First, I ASSESS the individual student for immediate academic needs. Second, I providing individualized lessons in order to PROGRESS the following categories: reading comprehension, writing skills, college entrance essays, in-college essays, vocabulary, and more. Finally, I REFLECT with the student (and parent, as needed) on our progress.

Before that I was an "AVID" tutor for Cherry Hill School District, in 2006. And way back when, I was a head counselor for Manalapan Parks and Recreation in Manalapan, New Jersey from 1998-2002.

I acquired 35 credits in an English Education, from Rowan University, where I hold a B.A. in English. “The Stall” featured one of my poems in the same time I was awarded the Federal Bureau of Investigation Scholarship (2005).

Study Skills

I have worked with many students whose learning styles or learning difficulties make them reliant on a strong set of study skills. I'm an advocate of AVID style tutoring, which challenges the student to keep thinking on a higher level, but also demands the student maintain copuous and organized notes.

Praxis

Having taken the Praxis I myself, I know it can be a daunting task.
I believe students need a well rounded coverage of each topic. The student will be able to asses the questions, keep a good pace, and answer with strategy under my guidance.

Social Studies

From 2005-2008 I substituted, observed, and student taught in various classrooms in New jersey. Part of this experience was teaching students essential historical figures, the judicial system, and significant events of American History.

If your 6-12 grade student needs assistance in social studies, I can assist them with semantic charts, vocabulary study skills, and in depth explanations during our tutoring sessions.

How do I receive a discount?

Save between 5 and 15% on tutoring by purchasing credit with one of our prepaid discount packages. You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need. The credit you purchase can be used towards any tutor at any time and does not expire. If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
