An engineering draftsman with over 25 years of AutoCAD drafting experience. Robert has worked for some of the most prestigious engineering firms in the United States preparing drawings. Notably Amman and Whitney, Edwards and Kelcey, and Motorola. His most memorable achievement was performed at Port Authority of New York and New Jersey after the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 1993. As part of an emergency engineering team, he worked long hours to help restore 1 World Trade Center's damaged refrigeration plant in 30 days. Some of his drawings were used for an article in Engineering News Record magazine in the fall of 1993 to illustrate the damage and repair to the World Trade Center.

Now as owner of a drafting services company, Robert is looking to give people the opportunity to contribute to the building of their own infrastructure by teaching them the basics of Computer Aided Drafting using AutoCAD. This training will give the student an insight to how Engineering and Architecture shape the world around them. He is located in Englewood New Jersey and very familiar with the tri-state area. He currently teaches an introductory course to drafting at Englewood library.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

AutoCAD

Autocad is a symbol manipulation and drawing automation tool. The tool is used to ease the creation of architectural and engineering drawings by providing the operator with a host of processes that make everyday drafting task a breeze. Depending on the discipline, an operator can arrange commands in menus according to their personal drafting style. Simple task like drawing lines and shapes, copying multiple objects and measuring distances can be performed in seconds with a few clicks, which in the past could take hours. The greater the knowledge of the operator of drafting standards and practices the greater the Autocad tool becomes. Autocad is a high end automation package that I have been using for more than 20 years. I grew up with ACAD(Autocad). I never switched drawing programs for other competitors. There are no commands that I do not know. My motto is if you need to draw it, Autocad has provided a command or process to achieve it. 2D or 3D. I can make Autocad simple to understand even for some of the more complicated tasks. World Coordinate System, User Coordinate System, Paperspace, Modelspace, Dimensioning, Viewports. I have worked in nearly every discipline there is. Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Process Piping and Power. You can tailor Autocad to any discipline and many expected parts are already drawn and in the symbol libraries.

Scaling and final presentation are conventions that need to be understood to make effective use of Autocad. A good tutor will make learning and using Autocad much easier.

Microsoft Windows

I have been a Windows user for 30+ years. I have watched Windows evolve from the days of DOS (Disc Operating System), hence I understand the nature of the program. I am an expert at installing, managing and backup of system information. I can teach a user every aspect of Windows because I have used it my total professional career. As a Documentation manager for Motorola Inc. for more than 8 years, I was responsible for the creation, storage and recall of millions of operation critical documents of every kind, for communication systems deployed throughout the United States. My costumers included NYPD, FDNY and Boston Police department to name a few.

Microsoft Windows is a operating system for your personal computer. It is the basic file management interface enabling a user to communicate with the hardware connected to their computer. Monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drives and soundcards are all managed by this software system, allowing the user to control the environment they experience while using the computer. Windows also manages memory usage and file storage processes. A user can describe the method in which hard drives are partitioned and how files are accessed. Understanding Windows is essential to successful computing in today's society. It is interwoven into almost every form of program interface known. Even in cell phone usage Windows style file access has emerged. Windows is a perfect name for this operating system, considering the function it performs. It is like looking into the windows of a house, depending on what room of a house you look into, you expect to see certain things. It is the same with Windows. Depending on the name of the folder or file you look into you should expect to see certain things: programs, pictures, videos, documents, etc.
