I received my B.A. from Rutgers University in French with a concentration in French literature. Thereafter, I completed my Ed.M. in Language Education. I hold standard teaching certifications for the state of New Jersey in both French and English as a Second Language K-12. My experience has been working in Newark as a K-8 French teacher, and currently as an ESL teacher for both grades K-8 and adults in central NJ. I have 9 years of teaching experience.
In my daily work, I differentiate instruction based on my students' proficiency levels, addressing their needs in both speaking and literacy development. I am also a native speaker, reader, and writer of Russian, so I can identify with my students' needs and cultural diversity, as they are part of my experience as well. I am an avid reader, and possess an excellent background in literacy instruction through my daily work with my students, from early reading development to the more complex reading comprehension.
I enjoy working with small groups of students where I plan instruction and assessment on an individual level. Goal setting is also an important aspect of my work. Even my youngest students are able to articulate their learning goals, and develop a learning plan with my guidance. At my current job, I also work with adults in the community to develop their English speaking and comprehension skills, thus I am comfortable working with any ages. I have a working knowledge of Spanish as well. I am excited for the opportunity to work with students on an individual basis.
