Approved subjects are in bold.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I worked as a music teacher in school for a while. I got licensed in early childhood music through Kindermusik. I ran a Kindermusic class teaching kids from pre-school to seven years old. I studied piano since I was seven. I belonged to an Acapella group and sang ever since I was little.
My entire family is musical. My brother played jazz drums, my sister, classical guitar. My dad was a Jazz bassist.
I continue to grow as a pianist with a piano mentor who graduated from Julliard and did a stint at the Royal College of Music, London.
I study college level music courses, through the Teaching Company ( Great Courses ). I teach piano performance.
I have a bachelors in English Literature and a Bachelor's in Education. I have successfully passed the Praxis and I am studying to give the Praxis II exam in NJ.
I tutor kids in K-7 subjects and prepared my own son for the ISEE Middle level.
I did my 11th and 12th grade science and am a writer with published poetry.
I am presently doing advanced studies in mathematics on my own to complete a degree in mathematics online. I am a self-directed learner and I love to teach.
I am an advanced level pianist engaged in continuing education in Piano Performance with a Juillard College Graduate and Royal College of London Scholar. I have been playing the piano since I was 7 and have in the last 5 years or so focused solely on Teaching/Studying piano performance. I am also a Kindermusik educator and especially gifted in motivating kids to learn.
I am a passionate teacher and have a very high standard for my students...my goal is to create artistic musicians with a whole range of capabilities.
Here is one of my poems:
by Priti S.
A rusty netherworld,
Enter the world of 'The Pilgrims Progress'
Jagged spikes suspended overhead
moist upsurges of rock below
An alien world of optical illusion;
Dream lake and Ghost column
Wishful coins glimmer in green water
Limestone icicles; stained cascades & drapes
Gothic water creations.
