I am an American citizen who grew up overseas speaking English
in the home. I was educated in Switzerland and England where I finished high school, following the English school system which puts a lot of emphasis on language
and composition. Consequently I was accepted to the School of Languages and Linguistics at Georgetown University, Washington D.C
. There I majored in Italian literature
and minored in English.
My freshman year, I was hired by one of my college professors as her T.A. (teacher's assistant) and I have been tutoring ever since. I graduated with a BS in languages and linguistics. I really enjoy tutoring my students, and I feel that I can offer them some of my knowledge that I attained by going through the English school system, that is very competitive, especially when it comes to literature and composition. I thoroughly enjoy reading
all the great classics
of literature (both English, American and Italian, like Hemingway, Faulkner, Dante, Shelly and much more) and I love to instill this joy of reading and literature in my students.
For my Italian students I can offer them my knowledge of the language, literature, art
and culture. I have a home and family in Italy, so I travel back there several times a year, which keeps me very current with the language and culture.
More recently I have tutored students who attend local universities, and I have several high school students too. Additionally, I have prepared people for their first trip overseas, tutoring them in the Italian language and offering them my experience and knowledge of the country and the great works of art that Italy has to offer.
