I started tutoring when I was a junior in high school. My teacher announced that I had gotten a perfect score on my PSAT’s and I was flooded with requests. After I started tutoring SAT's to my classmates I started to realize that not only did I really enjoy teaching, but that I’m also really good at it. When I finished high school I had already tutored students for the SAT's, ACT's, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP English, AP Calculus and AP History. Through high school and college I continued tutoring. I went to Pennsylvania State University for Chemical Engineering with an Option in Fuels & Energy, a minor in Chemistry, a minor in Energy Engineering, and a minor in Environmental Engineering. During college I had tutored college physics up to quantum physics, college chemistry up to organic chemistry II and quantum chemistry, calculus up to advanced differential calculus (Calc 4), and a multitude of other subjects. I’m the guy that you would ask a question to five minutes before a huge exam.
Since 2010 I have been one of the highest rated professional tutors in the country. I tutor every subject taught in elementary, middle and high school, including subjects up to a graduate level. Which isn't limited to any math (calculus, trigonometry, algebra, geometry), any science (biology, physics, chemistry), and of course test preparation (SAT's, SAT II's, ACT's, GRE's, AP's, MCAT's). I also teach any English (reading, writing), history (American, World) or literature subject. I’m willing and capable to learn a specific subject for a student upon request.
I grew up with a passion for learning, which all of my students benefiting. Exuding a positive attitude towards learning while immersing into a difficult subject helps my students thrive. I believe the atmosphere and approach significantly impacts the student’s success. This makes any students feel comfortable dealing with difficult subject. It’s common for a two hour tutoring sessions to feel like 30 minutes.
My own test scores are as follows:
SAT: Math-800, 99th percentile, Verbal-800, 99th percentile. Perfect 1600 Score
SAT II: Math IC-800, 99th percentile, MathIIC-800, 91st percentile, Physics-800, 99th percentile
GRE: Math-800, 99th percentile, Verbal-800, 99th percentile
GMAT: Quantitative section-51, Verbal Section-50, Integrated Reading-7, Analytic Writing Assessment-5
MCAT: 40, 99.8% percentile
LSAT: 165.0 90th percentile
I could have done a lot of different careers in my life and still can if I choose too. However, I really enjoy teaching and being able to help a student overcome a class or test. Therefore I tutor full time while building my company on the side. Nothing can compare to being able to teach, mentor, inspire and help any student gain confidence in a subject/test. I also do a lot of college counseling as well as help pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-law, and pre-business students get into Medical/Dental/Law/Business school. I love to help a student make the best possible college application, thesis, lab report, technical document, etc.
At this point I have taught and helped hundreds of students from all over the world. Some of these students were online and would work with me via Skype. It is common to have at least one student overseas or whose schedule requires some time over the computer. The age of my students range from 7 to 67 years old. I have had students with ADHD, dyslexia, lack of motivation and genuine hatred for the subject in question. I am able to understand why students struggle with a subject despite their age or background. Because I can connect with my students and because I know the material very well, I can always tell what the student does and doesn't understand. In that respect I have learned how to help my students find the answers themselves without me saying it. I believe in teaching concepts and understanding instead of just memorizing or copying down answers. Without the student realizing it, I can analyze and find out the best possible method for him or her to learn any subject. Each student is unique and I personally enjoy meeting a new person and seeing how they can best learn. I have extensive knowledge in most academic backgrounds and can show the real life applicability of any subject. Whatever your goal is, I can show you how to obtain it.
My schedule changes every week but I can be very flexible, especially if a student has a last minute test or project. I schedule weekly sessions with my students as soon as I can to make sure that every student can be helped as much as possible. I put my heart and soul into every student I meet. Whatever your issues may be, even if they are financial or schedule based, I will always find a way to make things work.
I have worked as an intern at a variety of different businesses. I have seen small business start ups and huge corporations alike. I have been a private consultant for a number of private companies and firms and understand the difficulty any entrepreneur or business owner has to face.
I have worked with Colleges and high schools in their career development under their HR departments. I have helped people prepare for jobs, interviews and overall careers. I was the President of the student government when I went to Penn State as well as Captain of every team I've been on. I have a lot of experience leading people and preparing them for any task or job they need to do. I have a lot of experience with team leading, team building and overall team management.
I have been playing cello since I was 13. In high school orchestra I was either 1st or 2nd cello. In college I joined a community orchestra since my school didn't have one. I own my own cello and play it casually. I have tutored students for the cello since high school.
I have tutored students of all ages. This includes students in elementary school. I have tutored students with ADD, dyslexia and language barriers. I am very patient and even when things seemed very difficult with a student I kept a positive light and worked with the students pace to guarantee results.
I have been tutoring the MCAT's for several years now. I went to college for chemical engineering and am going back for chemistry. I have a very strong science background and this has always helped me for the Physical Sciences and biological Sciences sections. I have also taught a lot of students in the Writing Sample and Verbal Reasoning sections exclusively. Most of the test doesn't require a vast amount of knowledge. Instead it requires the correct approach and a certain level of confidence. I always aim to help improve my students problem solving, critical thinking, writing skills and written analysis. I can teach any scientific concepts or principles they need to know that would be on the MCAT.
I took organic chemistry 1 and 2 myself with their respective labs. I have now tutored several students in organic chemistry. I have seen the notes and tests for Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 from Rutgers, Penn State, FDU, WPU, NYU, Ramapo, and several other schools through my tutoring. I understand how difficult the subject can be and have seen it taught in several different ways.
I have tutored and instructed countless students and through my work I have been asked about the best way to study. I know the the best approaches for when I want to learn something. I also know how to find the right approaches for each different person who wants to learn. If the student is a visual learner, auditory learner, hands on learners, or just need to regurgitate information, any student can be taught the optimal way to learn. Whether it requires memorization or understanding there is a method that can work for everyone. This can be done in a group setting or individually with students.
TEAS is an essential test for prospective nursing students. Although most students don't seem to know about it they all have the ability to do extremely well. The test is on basic English, science, math and reading. The material doesn't have to intimidate the student, although the test is still going to seem intimidating. This is because the TEAS is also an aptitude test. It will tell the student whether or not they are heading in the direction of a nurse or if the occupation isn't suited for him or her.
I have tutored students in this test and have been able to put them near a perfect score. I can review the basics of each subject and work any topic to the ground up. I can make practice problems and show any topic to a student through any perspective they need
