I lived in Italy for 6 years, and I have also completed my B.A. Italian and received an Advanced-Mid rating on my Oral Proficiency Test in Italian.
Since 2006 I have been teaching Conversational Italian at my own school, Mondo Italia Scuola e Centro Culturale. I have also been teaching Conversational Italian for eleven years at the Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission and SCAN Learning Center on a contractual basis.
I have been teaching students ranging from three years of age to senior citizens in private and group settings. I have had success tutoring High School students as well, helping those who are literally failing after mid-terms and their grade has raised to a 'B-' in less than 2 semesters.
My experience with private lessons and in the classroom is extensive, often teaching students of different abilities. I frequently modify classroom activities in order to maintain the interest of the higher level students without intimidating those who are less proficient. I am an enthusiastic and energetic teacher, and I take great pride in the success of my students.
I have many students who recommend me, one who has his doctorate in Education and teaches Education classes at Seton Hall University. I have taught him and his wife in large classrooms, in private sessions, and have also taught their daughters at 3 and 5 years old.
I am dedicated to my students having success in conversing in the Italian language with Italians, not focusing on rote memory through books, although I do use books, audio, and interactive conversation in addition to written exercises. Taking a foreign language CAN be fun, and you will realize that immediately in a class, or private session, with me!
