I have been an artist all my life. I started with basic charcoal pencil classes in elementary school and continued through middle school, high school where I was voted class artist my senior year further attending college level art school. I do a lot of freelance work and continue to self-educate myself. In 2011 I returned to college to obtain my teaching degree in the visual arts. I have been a counselor and mentor as well as a private art tutor for many years now. My work is diverse, and I can handle most mediums with ease. I enjoy sharing what I know and helping others discover their own creative potential.
My photography has been published in several books, and I cover many live events in NJ/NY, including the past 7 years for the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. My passion for photography began in the early 1980s, and around 1999 I transitioned to digital. I currently use a PENTAX K10D along with a Macintosh, Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5 for post-processing. Printing is handled by my wide format Canon PIXMA PRO9000 printer.
Sine my childhood I have looked to the stars.I currently own 5 telescopes and with them I provide educational outreach at Star Parties across NJ and as a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts. In 2014 I became Senior Qualified Observer at my astronomy club which allows me open access to 2 of the largest telescopes on the east coast. My love of astronomy is coupled with my fascination and imagination in art and photography.
I have been using Apple products since 1979. I have worked for Apple and have been formally trained by them. I own four Mac's, iPAD, iPHONE, iPOD and NANO. All my astronomy, art and photography interests are accompanied by my MAC. I can help you understand general use, software, switching over from PC, setting up WIFI, printers, scanners, transferring photos, editing movies, making DVD's, etc.
I use Illustrator professionally for private clients to design logos and adjust artwork when needed. I have taken two typography college level classes using Illustrator for all my assignments.
I currently use Adobe Photoshop CS6 for digital photo manipulation and correction. I also create special effects and custom digital art for fun and for my private clients. Everything I do is on a Macintosh but I am very familiar with the software on PC platform as well. We cover basic tools and how they work, then we move into what you are looking to do with the software. I look forward to working with you.
Since 1977 I have studied Astronomy. I currently own 4 telescopes ( each one different types for various uses ) I assist teaching astronomy to local elementary schools at Star Parties and since 2000 I have been a Qualified Observer at my local Astronomy club, AAI William Sperry Observatory in Cranford, NJ. Carl Sagan's Cosmos TV series and Jack Horkheimer's STARGAZER programs have kept me informed of the universe for decades. I use STARRY NIGHT software to track planets and deep sky objects. I have photographed Comets, Eclipses, Nebulae and the Moon many times using my MEADE LX50 8" SCT. Currently I use my ORION 12" Dobsonian Truss along with my Celestron 80MM Refractor for Star Parties. I have access to the 24' SCT Reflector at AAI Sperry for personal use. I am also a merit badge counselor in Astronomy for the Boy Scouts.
I have been drawing for over 35 years - mostly self-taught along with various art classes and open studio lessons. I have always loved the visual arts. Drawing was an extension of animation which I continue to practice on a daily basis. I am well versed in many mediums such as; Pencil, Ink, Pastel, Color Pencil, Charcoal, Sanguine, Vine Charcoal, Marker - all are drawing media I am experienced in.
I have been using APPLE products since 1981 and currently I own 4 computers, plus an iPhone, iPad and iPod. All my creative work is done on a Macintosh along with a scanner and drawing tablet. For a time I was employed by Apple, and I have been trained in their product line. in addition I have helped many of friends switch over to Apple products and tutor them in MAC OSX software.
I use iLIFE, iWork, Apature, iDVD, Garageband, Facetime, Messenger, ITunes, Safari and many other Mac based software applications.
