Chemistry/biology problems no more!

My tutoring experience started when I was an ‘A’ biology and chemistry student at County College of Morris and was hired to work at the College’s Science Resource Center as a peer tutor. Subsequently I won the CRC Press Chemistry Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement in chemistry, graduated from the College with an A.S. in chemistry, and continued my education at Montclair State University, where I earned a B.S. in biochemistry.

Helping students to understand, master, and succeed in chemistry and biology is something that I find personally rewarding, and the accolades that I've received from my students over the past six years have been highly gratifying. Even the most complex material is presented in a simple, easy-to-understand manner, and I am pleased to offer students my supplemental study materials on a variety of topics to help them succeed.

Chemistry and biology need not be esoteric, exotic hot-house plants!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biochemistry

As a biochemistry major, I completed 79 academic credits in biology and chemistry, inclusive of graduate-level coursework [B.S. in biochemistry, Montclair State University (2013); A.S. in chemistry, County College of Morris (2009)].

Biology

As a biochemistry major, I completed 26 academic credits in biology (plus 14 credits in biochemistry), and I have been tutoring high school/college-level biology since 2008 with great success.

Chemistry

With 53 academic credits, chemistry is my strongest subject. As a chemistry student, I won the CRC Press Chemistry Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement in chemistry, and I have been tutoring high school/college-level chemistry since 2008 with great success.

English

As a published author many times over, I understand the importance of a thorough understanding of English and English grammar and how these components are used in English literature. My tutoring of these subjects enables the student to master the basic components of English, which then facilitates improved reading, writing, and comprehension.

Grammar

As a published author many times over, I understand the importance of a thorough understanding of English and English grammar and how these components are used in English literature. My tutoring of these subjects enables the student to master the basic components of English, which then facilitates improved reading, writing, and comprehension.

Organic Chemistry

With 53 academic credits (including three organic chemistry courses), chemistry is my strongest subject. As a chemistry student, I won the CRC Press Chemistry Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement in chemistry, and I have been tutoring high school/college-level chemistry since 2008 with great success.

Writing

Although I am a science major, writing has always been a great passion of mine. I am published in numerous magazines and journals (i.e. "Tropical Fish Hobbyist" and "Cichlid News" magazines), and I wrote materials for publication promoting New York City cultural events for the Office of the Mayor during the Koch administration.
