I have enjoyed working with students in my community for many years, and recently have become certified to teach K-12 art in New Jersey. I like to encourage artists of all ages to reach their creative potential through evaluation, learning from examples of well-known artists, and finding their unique expressive voice. Various drawing techniques to explore include pencil, charcoal, oil pastels, and chalk pastels. Painting techniques include watercolors, oils, and acrylic painting. I prefer to meet in your home or at another location. If you don't want to get messy we can learn about great works of art and their historical significance to the timeline of creativity.

We can learn so much from the artists who came before us. From cave painters to Pop Art, all artists of the past provide great examples of technical skills or springboards for our own inspiration. By using a particular online database, we can gain access to find details of certain works to better understand the creations of a specific artist or style.

Drawing

I have taken one college-level year of drawing enhanced by one year of design, along with workshops in portraiture. Good drawing skills provide a foundation for producing art of all forms. The most important thing is training the eye to see, and then recording that image on paper. We will explore elements of art that include line, shape, value, texture, and space. Painting

I have taken two years of college-level painting classes along with workshops on color theory in watercolors, Chinese brush painting, and abstract painting. This medium brings about another dimension to art making. Sheer liquid layers of watercolor may be used loosely or in detail depending on the use of brushstroke or brush size.
