Sometimes math classes get a bad reputation for being really tough. Often times, the information just needs to be explained or organized in a different way because not everyone learns in exactly the same way. As a certified teacher and a professional SAT teacher, I have had a lot of experience re-structuring information for students, especially in mathematics.
I graduated from TCNJ with a bachelor's degree in Biology and am also a certified Biology teacher. While working on my Masters in Science Education I have taken Biology specific courses such as "Teaching Life Science" and "Biology and Society."
Learning the foundations of math is essential for students to be successful in both school and later on in a career. Having a certified teacher review and/or provide one-on-one instruction can be invaluable during these elementary school years. Over the years, I have tutored many students between grades 2nd-6th in math. To help keep students engaged, I try to create review games or use different media to keep the sessions interesting. As always, tutoring is tailored to the specific needs and disposition of the student.
To become a certified teacher I have taken the following Praxis Exams: Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Biology Content Knowledge, Biology Content Knowledge Part 2, General Science Content Knowledge Part 1, and General Science Content Knowledge Part 2.
I have scored highly on all of these tests. For the Reading/Writing/Math tests, I scored between 183-187 out of 190. For the science tests, I ranged between 179-183 out of 200.
No one needs to tell you how important the SATs are for college admittance and scholarships. A few simple tricks and strategies could be the difference between tens to hundreds of points on the SAT. As a former SAT teacher for five years, I can provide individualized guidance to target specific areas in need of improvement. The SATs can be a source of anxiety for so many students but knowing the way the College Board test-makers think can turn that 4-hour nightmare into a series of easy to solve puzzles. I can show you how to think like a test-maker, spot the wrong answers, and maximize your SAT score.
