I’m a recent Princeton graduate – major in Math, minor in Linguistics. I have been tutoring students since my freshman year of high school in physics, chemistry, math and English. My professional experience includes managing a branch and teaching for Ivy Insiders, an SAT/ACT prep company. Its mission was to help students raise their SAT scores by as much as 300 points, using the first-hand insights of top college test takers (e.g. Penn, Harvard, Cornell).
I have plenty of experience with the SAT, and I achieved a score of 2380 by the time I applied to colleges. While working at Ivy Insiders I learned numerous strategies and techniques specific to taking standardized tests.
Besides math and linguistics, my areas of expertise include physics, economics, logic, and philosophy. Also, I am Level 3 certified on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, and I studied Latin for many years and won numerous awards in national and regional competitions.
My teachers and friends would describe me as articulate, widely-read, and friendly. If I know a subject, and get to know you just well enough to appraise your learning style, I can teach that subject to you.
I’ve had many interests outside the classroom. In college I sang with Princeton’s all-male a capella group, the Tigertones, including a year as music director, where I was in charge of arranging the music and teaching, rehearsing, and conducting the group in performances around the USA and in Europe.
Interested in learning to solve the Rubik’s cube? I was the president of “cube clubs” in both high school and college, and I can solve it in 20 seconds. The discipline of the cube provides insight into a number of areas of mathematics – above all, the power of algorithms to solve problems. Free cubing lesson with any tutoring session!
