My B.A. in Political Science and Global Studies from Marist College, as well as 5 years of experience as a tutor, are at your disposal. As a law student with a background in English/Language Arts, American and Global History, as well as Government and Western Civilization, I am well suited to the needs of any Middle or High School student who needs the benefit of individualized, one-on-one instruction to improve grades and excel. My previous students have seen advances in Middle and High-School English and History, as well as learned valuable tips and tricks for the SAT and ACT college entrance exams.
I am friendly, upbeat, and positive, and persistent. I challenge my students, but provide them substantial support as we work together to identify those areas of subject matter that pose the most difficulty, then focus on preparation in those areas, developing and honing necessary skills that the serve the student for an upcoming exam and beyond. Though I have amassed experience with and knowledge of the subjects and material my students are learning, I read and work through their curricular material independently, as well as with the student, ensuring preparedness. Additionally, I employ music and mixed media as tools to increase my students’ understanding while ensuring the time we spend together is entertaining and engaging.
Students should be prepared for our first meeting with rubrics and syllabi for the course in which they seek academic support (or from the past year/semester in the case of intersession tutoring), and be prepared to discuss a plan for success with both myself and a Parent.
