My love of teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. I know that hard work and dedication to learning can pay off. I have had the pleasure of helping students realize their potential and see their grades and test scores improve. This is truly the best job I have ever had!
I specialize in tutoring Math and English for success in school. Whether we are working on elementary math or vocabulary, one of my goals for each session is to keep the student challenged, but not overwhelmed. I assign challenging homework after every lesson, and provide periodic assessments and progress reports.
I hold myself to a high standard. For that reason, I often ask for feedback, and I never bill for a lesson in which the student or parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring.
I try to be flexible with time. While I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I offer makeup sessions.
To ensure that students have a quiet and comfortable study space in which to work with me, I like to meet at your public library. However, I am happy to travel to another location if that is more convenient for the student.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!
I have worked with autistic children for five months in a public school. I'm also currently earning my degree in Special Education.
I will be certified to teach grades-6th in December.
I worked with Autistic children in a public school setting, teaching procedures based on Skinner’s analysis of Verbal Behavior to increase vocalizations in previously nonverbal children (teach mands-requests made verbally, through sign language, or with picture symbols).
The use of reinforcement systems are effective teaching procedures for individuals with autism in increasing a variety of skills. I also practice Small-Group Instruction. Between 3 and 6 children are grouped together in an instructional setting on the basis of similarity in a particular skill domain such as academic, language, or social skills for small group instruction. Small group instruction can consist of individuals modeling and/or imitating each other’s actions, taking turns, or responding in unison. Modeling is a useful intervention for teaching a variety of skills to individuals with autism who have well-developed imitation skills.
I've taken Praxis I and II. I have the knowledge to help students succeed on the test.
I will be certified in Special Education. I have a love for children who have special needs.
