As a tutor I am excited and committed to help students succeed, especially in Chemistry and Math. After a successful career as a Ph.D. Organic Chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry, I am now ready to motivate students to achieve better in school. I have experience tutoring intermediate school (5th and 6th grade math), middle school (pre-algebra and algebra 1), high school chemistry and algebra 2 students. I also have experience in preparing students for the SAT Chemistry Subject test and AP chemistry. I mentored several chemists during my career and my experience could be a great asset in my tutoring sessions. When tutoring, I usually go over their homework, quiz and tests and bring extra problems in areas where they seem to struggle. I like to keep the students motivated and that is the way to get them to succeed. I am also available for conversational French tutoring. I am available for summer tutoring.

Algebra 1

I have a strong math background from college (I was a chemistry major). I am currently tutoring a 9th grader in algebra 1 and I tutored that same student in pre-algebra last summer. Algebra is a very important subject to understand.

Algebra 2

I have a strong math background from college (I was a chemistry major). I tutored 2 junior in high school last year in Algebra 2. I will be tutoring a sophomore in high school this year (I helped that student over the summer to get a head start on Algebra 2). I am very committed to helping students in algebra 2.

Chemistry

I have a bachelor and doctorate degree in chemistry. I worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a chemist for 26 years and in my retirement I decided to help students succeed in chemistry. I have tutored two students last year in chemistry and they both improved their grade. I have a broad knowledge of chemistry and passed the Praxis test 2 years ago. I really feel I can help your student succeed.

French

I am French speaking of background, and although I have been living in the US for the past 30 years, I am still very fluent in French. I communicate in French every week with my family both verbally and through E-mail (writing). I taught French to the adult community for 8 weeks a couple of years ago and feel very confident that I can help students who would like to practice conversation.

Prealgebra

I have a strong math background from college (I was a chemistry major). I have always enjoyed math and I have been tutoring several students from 5th to 8th grade in the past 2 years. I tutored a student in pre-algebra last summer.

Elementary Math

I have a strong background in math and have tutored a few students so far in 4th, 5th and 6th grade math. I am very familiar with the subject and I am excited to get your student a better understanding of math in preparation for middle school.

Organic Chemistry

I have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from McGill University and was an organic chemist in the Pharmaceutical Industry for most of my career (26 years). I synthesized compounds in the lab and planned the synthetic routes to be used to achieve a successful synthesis. I now feel I can help your student in organic chemistry at the high school and college level.
