I strongly believe that each and every student can be successful in their studies with the right approach and the right tutor. I never give up on any of my students and I am motivated to reach them and help them learn. With me, your student will get Positive results in a short amount of time. Students will become more focused, more organized, and achieve higher grades in their coursework.

I focus quickly and efficiently on the problems students are having and address them immediately. These can range from processing issues, attention deficiency, lack of motivation, organization, study skills, or difficult teacher relations.

I graduated from the Number 1 school in the country rated by Forbes in 2009. I am a combination of tutor and coach and believe students should learn for life, not just for one subject. With that, I include organization, time management and test taking strategies in my services. I use all modes of teaching - audio, visual, tactile - to ensure my students learn, retain and apply their learning.

With more than 25 years of experience of working with children, young adults, and seniors, I have seen many different challenges to learning and have used just as many different solutions.

I have also worked with many senior citizens in teaching them new skills such as computers, emailing, word processing and other electronic programs.

Lastly, I am a proud veteran of our Armed Forces, having served for over 10 years and am actively involved in my community as a baseball, soccer and lacrosse coach and Church Deacon.

I work with students from elementary through the college level and currently work with students at some of NJ's most prestigious schools such as The Pingry School, Delbarton and The Lawrenceville School. I have also worked with students from West Point, Columbia University, Cornell, and Rutgers.

Algebra 1

I tutor students at all levels of Algebra from pre-Algebra to Algebra II and use various methods to ensure my students understand and retain all concepts. I have been very successful in helping students who have struggled mightily to raise their math grades and general algebra knowledge.

American History

I have tutored elementary and middle school students on American History, Generalist and with their own textbooks, on a weekly basis.

I am an American History buff with emphasis on the Revolutionary War period and the Civil War period.

Grammar

I have taught grammar to foreign nationals in Germany; to foreign area officers while serving in the US Military, and to citizen candidates studying for their citizenship exam.

Microsoft Excel

I teach Microsoft Excel to business clients and operations to help them better understand their trends in sales, logistics and production as well as link various areas together in performance tracking.

I also teach Excel to various students at all levels as well as to Senior Citizens on a weekly basis and as needed. I incorporate real world examples and use TSTU urgent data and subject matter to demonstrate spreadsheets, filtering and sorting, special commands, and commonly used operations...

General Computer

I teach General computer skills to senior citizens at Adult Living facilities and at our local church on a weekly basis and as needed.

Geometry

I use various techniques to teach Geometry to include real world applications, word problems and critical thinking skills. Theorem and postulate application are keys to success and I advise students on how best to recall the appropriate rules, identify the situation and apply the correct approaches. I also use online resources to reinforce textbook learning.

Microsoft Word

Tutored elementary and middle school students on the basic use of Microsoft Word such as file creation, fonts, margins, spell check, tabs, styles, and pic and graphic inserts.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have tutored elementary, middle school and high school students as well as senior citizens on the basics of PowerPoint for use in class presentations, speeches, advertising, and student government.

Reading

I have worked with Autistic (Asberger Synd) students on the basics of reading and comprehension.

I tutor elementary and middle school students on basic reading, comprehension, main ideas, and meaning.

Spanish

I have tutored elementary, middle school and high school students in the basics of Spanish such as conjugation, reading, speaking, vocabulary and oral presentation.

Writing

I teach essay and research paper writing focusing on form, layout, thesis statement and supporting paragraphs. Included in this session is grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, APA formatting and reference citation.

Geography

I teach Geography (US, Regional, and World) to elementary and middle school students on a weekly basis and as needed.

English

I teach basic English skills such as grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure to elementary and middle school students on a weekly basis and as requested.

Proofreading

I currently proofread many student research papers for proper grammar, word choice and usage, sentence construction and idea development. I have worked in many business environments to create, edit, and publish sales materials, technical papers, and operating procedures.

GED

I have instructed and assisted many students at the high school level and higher in obtaining their GED. I have also worked with soldiers in the military who needed their GEDs to continue their service in the Armed Forces.

ASVAB

I have tutored students and adults who needed help in passing the ASVAB in order to enter the military. I proudly served in the US Army for 13 years so I am familiar with what to expect and have taken the ASVAB several times as well as given my students practice tests.

ACT English

I teach students the various tips, tricks, and paths to success for the ACT. As a very high performer on the test myself, I instruct students on how to approach the test, types of problems, traps, and various downfalls that are presented. I also conduct numerous practice drills as well as full length exams that we review for errors and decision making.

Elementary (K-6th)

I conduct substitute teaching at the local elementary and middle schools and have worked quite frequently with K-12 curriculums.

I have also volunteered as a tutor to elementary students after school and on weekends.

Study Skills

I incorporate study skills in all of my tutoring subject areas. I teach students how to prepare for an exam, quiz, research paper and final. I accomplish this by incorporating backwards planning, setting short, mid-term, and long range goals and planning as well as identifying strengths and weaknesses for a baseline and focusing on improvement.
