I am a certified elementary teacher in the state of New Jersey and have a "Highly Qualified" status in the area of teaching middle school mathematics. I have a passion for teaching, a great deal of patience, and good sense of humor. I am flexible and have extensive training and practice on addressing the individual needs of all learners. I am a "geek" in the best sense of the word. I love technology and am proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have tutored many children and adults in the use of PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. I am proficient in many PC and Mac programs. I have tutored high school students in Algebra I and Geometry as well as assisting many in obtaining their GED.

I was an elementary school teacher for ten plus years. In that time I was responsible for preparing and implementing lesson plans taking into consideration the learning styles and needs of all students. I found great success with teaching organization and study skills and the students enjoyed the incorporation of technology in lessons. I have taught third through fifth grades and was fortunate to be a basic skills math teacher for children in grades 1-5.

Study Skills

As a fourth grade elementary teacher, teaching study skills was an important part of the curriculum. My motto was and remains "organization and preparation are the key to success".

It has been my experience that study skills encompass note-taking, time management, choosing an appropriate study environment, and use of mnemonic devices to name just a few

Macintosh

I have been using a Mac for over 10 years. I am familiar with, and have used, countless Macintosh programs in the classroom. Most recently, I have incorporated the iPad in my lessons.

Praxis

I received a Praxis score in the 90th percentile, as well as a passing score on the middle school math Praxis. Both scores are on file with the Jackson Township Board of Education, as well as with E.T.S.
