I am a certified teacher who taught English
at Wagner College, and I'm a former Star-Ledger editor
. Because I've also taught English/ESL
at a grade-school level in private school, I'm available to teach younger and older students.
I can walk you though grammar
basics, or I can help you add dramatic flair in your writing. Whether you want to learn a newspaper editor's tips to clean up a story or whether you want to master the basics, I will be happy to help.
Basic grammar lessons: In my basic grammar lessons, you will learn the simplified steps to creating grammatically correct sentences, paragraphs and essays. I have a N.J. English Teacher certificate and a NJ Reading
Advanced writing and proofreading
lessons: I'm also a former Star-Ledger editor/and writer who can jazz up your writing style. In my advanced proofreading class, you'll learn how to manipulate sentence structures. You'll begin seeing grammar as a traffic signal to prioritize the ideas within a sentence or paragraph. And playing with syntactic structures, such as gerunds, participles and appositives, can create a desired impression on your readers.
Other tricks are hiding controversial topics through using passive voice or through burying the lead. Alternatively, your leads will shout out if you use personal narrative statements in the active voice.
You can also learn to add descriptive adjective flourishes, or to create dramatic flair through punchier verb choices, or to create concise, explanatory business
But whether you choose to take basic grammar lessons or advanced writing and proofreading lessons, I am looking forward to meeting you and to helping you view language
in a new way.
By the way, I also have an ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate (from Fairleigh Dickinson University).
