I recently completed a dual Master's degree in Asian Studies and International Relations, and am currently teaching Japanese part-time at Seton Hall University. I lived in Japan from 2005-7 and have been studying Japanese for 8 years now. My current Japanese language students include a VP at the U.S. branch of a Japanese bank, a high school student who hopes to go into the business/finance world, and another student who wants to be able to communicate with her Japanese friend's family members.
I have a total of 3 years of experience teaching English to non-native speakers. My bachelor's degree was in English literature, and I taught English for two years in Japan. I have experience teaching to adults, students, and children as young as 18 months. I have taught individuals, pairs, and groups as large as 50. My current ESL students are all Japanese and European business people hoping to make the most of their time in the U.S., and optimize their chances for success at their jobs.
I love to integrate games into my lessons as often as possible, as long as they help my students to learn. More than anything, I'm concerned with providing my students with lessons that are tailored to their needs and learning styles. I love to get feedback from my students so that I can provide them with the most personally optimized lessons.
