I recently graduated William Paterson University with a Bachelor's Degree of Arts in English. I have tutored an 8th Grade Language Arts class. The class consisted of 30 students. I have tutored individually and in groups. I love working with students to help them better understand literature, writing, and grammar. I love to help people learn and excel in their studies.
To ensure the best tutoring experience, I like to know in advance what area you need to be tutored in. I like to have a copy of the work or assignments if possible. This helps me prepare my tutoring lesson in advance. For example if you need help in with literature, I would like to know what book you are reading and what aspects you are struggling with, theme, character development, symbolism, plot, etc. If I have not already read the book, I will read it prior to our meeting. I like to know the material that I will be working with. This ensures the best possible outcome for your session.
I like to get to know a little about you before our session. I believe that knowing a little bit about you personally helps me to determine your learning style. It is so important to know how you learn because this greatly helps me tailor my lessons specifically to your needs.
I will do my best to ensure that you are engaged in the material. I have a commitment to my students to make the material understanding and interesting. I am passionate about my subject area which I believe is key in helping you learn the material you need help with.
