I taught calculus for several semesters at the math department at Virginia Commonwealth University and I had such a good time! I am an energetic and happy teacher and I really enjoy finding several different ways to explain something new until it clicks for the student; I am very patient in this sense. Also, translating dry math concepts into engaging analogies is a characterizing part of my teaching style. My tutoring specialty lies in getting students comfortable and confident in precalculus and calculus at both the high school and university levels.

Right now, I am a mathematics PhD student at Rutgers University and am available for tutoring either in my office at the Hill Center in Piscataway, NJ, or I can drive to your home or another common meeting area in the New Brunswick or Princeton area.

Feel free to email me anytime about your particular tutoring goals or to schedule our first session!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Photography

I began my photography training with two years of high school courses in the traditional fundamentals of black & white film photography. We worked on the entire process from rolling our own rolls of film to composing the photos artistically, developing the film in our own laboratory, and exposing and developing our own prints in a darkroom. I have since added eight years of experience in color and black & white digital photography of human, architectural, and natural scenes from macro mode to panoramic landscapes.
