ATTENTION: Sorry, I am currently not in the country at the moment, attending graduate school in Australia.
Hello,
My name is Gautam. I graduated Cum Laude from Rutgers University in May 2009 with a B.S. in Astrophysics and History. I have worked in an Astrophysics as well as Particle Physics lab trying to learn more about the Universe in which we reside.
I had to work hard to understand a lot of what I learned and I have hit and overcome many roadblocks along the way. Because of this, I realize that students might have trouble understanding mathematical or physical concepts. However, this is not because they are unable to do so; it is because they have not been taught in a way that suits their learning style and/or interests. Learning is dependent on a students own willingness. A lot of it comes down to a students self-confidence in his/her abilities and how a subject (math, physics, etc.) relates to him/her. This is why teaching properly has to be tailored to the particular student. The most important part about being a tutor is to have patience and understand a students interests, strengths, and weaknesses.
Having been a member of the Tutoring Club in high school, I have first hand experience in helping kids (Kindergarten through High School) understand basic concepts. I have also helped many of my friends in there college level math and physics courses.
Besides my academic background, I enjoy playing, learning, and listening to all types of music. I play several instruments proficiently including guitar, bass, drums, and piano. While I have taken lessons for guitar, I am mainly a self-taught musician. Anyway, thank you for reading my posting.
-Gautam
