Hello, I am very interested in tutoring in various subjects. I hold a master's in middle level education (5-9) from the University of Vermont and a bachelor's in Art History from Southern Methodist University. I am also a certified SS/English teacher in Vermont and have been teaching grades 7-12 at an alternative school (emotionally disturbed, learning disabled, and autistic students). I am moving to Florida and currently adding a FL teaching certificate.
Additionally, I worked at Nature's Classroom where I taught 1-6 graders such hands on classes as the physics behind juggling, Gyotaku (Japanese fish printing and fish anatomy), Yoga, Aquatic Insects, among many more. Our goal was to provide a fun learning environment. I also have four books of poetry published and operate my own small publishing company. I have done poetry readings at libraries, high schools, and art galleries so I am very qualified for the Language Arts.
My major at Southern Methodist University was Art History. There I perfected my writing skills with numerous essays. I also played Division 1 soccer in college as a goalie. We traveled all over the United States to Hawaii, California, Nevada, and more. I have coached soccer and provided private goalie lessons. I was an English tutor in Spain for the InterExchange Program during 2006. I also worked at an After School Program for the school year of 2005-2006. Moreover, I was a paraprofessional in Colchester, VT and have taught in Williston and Manchester, VT.
My philosophy is to accommodate all students with differentiated instruction and engage them with multiple learning activities such as hands on activities, short videos, technology, games etc. I love to teach and hope you consider me for your tutoring needs.
