I am an experienced educator who specializes in students with math phobias. I have taught adults who had bad experiences with math years ago, have taught math to adults in industries and have experience in teaching 5-9th grade math levels.
I use the concept of "multiple intelligences" to teach math concepts depending on the students. I also work on a a student's confidence as that will help them succeed in math.
In English, I am well versed with grammar rules, reading techniques (in comprehension, vocabulary and the difference between reading novels and reading in the content areas.)
I have a degree in "General Studies of Science" so I can help with a range of science introductory topics.
I have a sense of humor and try to use it to help adults and children relax and learn without tension.
My hours are flexible and would prefer that the student comes to my home whenever possible - it's very quiet here with little distraction.

Prealgebra

I have had 14 years of experience in teaching pre-algebra concepts [from ratio and proportions to integers and percents as well as beginning Algebra.]

Reading

I have taught Reading to adults and as well as a Reading Class as one of my duties when I taught at Somersworth Middle School. I also have taken classes in "Reading in the Content Area."

SAT Math

SAT math usually includes up to Algebra. I could help make sure your basic math (up to and including Algebra) is strong enough to get a good score on the SAT.

Elementary Math

Even though most of my experience has been in junior high math, I have had plenty of experience in elementary math since I've taught many students who needed an individualized math program. I believe in practice, practice, practice when it comes to basic skills so that as they're used in fractions and ratios for example, they are ingrained enough not to slow down the student.
