I began teaching as a Peace Corps volunteer in Iran. I served from 1969 to 1971 as an ESL instructor at the middle school level. I speak conversational Farsi.
In 1986, having taught at private schools for eight years, I completed my masters in education, with a concentration in secondary mathematics, at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. I subsequently moved to southern New Hampshire and became certified to teach middle school math. I taught at the Marlborough School, part of SAU 29, from 1987 until my retirement in 2008.
I enjoy working with middle school-age students, and I find it easy to establish and maintain rapport with them. I am married, and I have two grown children of my own. I am an avid cyclist, and I enjoy reading mysteries, gardening, and listening to music.
