Future students...I'm Ron. I first tutored students from my 2nd/3rd class at Peterborough Elementary School, one summer in the early 1980s. Basically, three young guys came over to my house a few times a week and we read books outloud together. The boys also kept summer journals that they shared as well. Since then, I have taught middle school for 10 years, and also coached the boys' basketball team and girls' soccer team. That was in the 1990s, and I taught language arts at the eighth grade level. The highlight of each year was when I had my classes compete in poetry slams.
Since 2000, I have been a learning skills tutor in a private high school, and since 2006 an adjunct college writing instructor. During some of that time, I also scored essays for the GRE. Currently I am working with a college senior who is completing her final course in Criminal Justice, writing a 17 page essay on life imprisonment. As you can see, I have been both a teacher and a tutor for many years.
This fall, I will be teaching College Writing I at Franklin Pierce University. I have also been a tutor at FPU, and directed the writing center for three semesters. If you are looking for an experienced, supportive, resourceful tutor, I'm your man. Besides writing and reading, I am also very adept at math, including algebra and geometry. I can also help you prepare college application essays and prepare for the SATS. Hope to meet you soon.
Ron
