I have a degree in Systems Science & Mathematics and have practiced as a software engineer, systems integrator, and systems engineer for over 30 years. I love sharing my knowledge with others. I have extensive mathematical, computer programming, and electrical/electronics background and find it rewarding to impart these skills to others. History has always been a hobby and passion of mine, and if I could have made a good living as a historian as opposed to an engineer, that is the career path I would have chosen.
My tutoring approach is to work toward the student understanding the material. I believe this requires patience and use of whatever means - visual aids, drawing pictures, drawing analogies with things the student is familiar with, etc. - to help the student come to full understanding of the subject matter. I also believe it involves having discussions with the student to pinpoint problem areas that need attention. I have home schooled my son in Algebra I and Geometry, and he has been successful as he transitioned on to traditional high school. He is presently taking Calculus as a junior in high school.
