I am a working artist and designer (both Print and Web design) with an extensive background in Art, Art History, Photography, Drawing, Costume Making and Sculpting. My first degree was in Art History but included coursework in Chemistry, Physics, and Advanced Mathematics. I am also a graduate of the Print and Web Design Program at Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts.

I have been an educator in several settings, including The National Park Service, Historic New England, Boston University's Center for Digital Imaging Arts, and the Nashua School District. My audience has ranged from Elementary to Graduate Students and I have presented in a variety of settings both in and outside of the classroom. Topics I have taught include Industrial History, American History, Archaeology, HTML, Web Design, Sculpting, Art History, and Art.

I am comfortable teaching to students with a variety of learning styles and have special knowledge in assisting students with ADHD and similar learning difficulties.

I have worked with computers since I first meticulously typed out hundreds of lines of code into my Commodore 64 to make a ball bounce across the screen 25 years ago. I have worked in both Windows and Mac operating systems and have installed countless numbers of hardware and software for both systems. I have had basic programming experience and have worked with a variety of servers and devices.

HTML

While completing my post-grad certificate in Graphic and Web Design at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts, I was instructed in HTML, CSS, and basic Flash. Drawing

While earning my first degree in Art History at the University of Lowell I was required to learn a wide range of studio arts including Drawing, Painting, Color Theory, Photography and Computer Graphics. These skills have been used in creating graphics for print material and websites as well as decorative elements for my wide portfolio of costumes, stage props, hand-bound books, and more. My work has been used in film, stage, museums, and historical reenactments.

Public Speaking

From 1995-199 I was a historical interpreter for the National Park Service in Lowell, MA. As part of my job I received training in program creation and presentation through the National Park Service curriculum. I received continuing education throughout my time with the service through a variety of conferences and workshops presented by such groups as the New England Museum Association.

Adobe InDesign

While completing my post-grad certificate in Graphic and Web Design at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts I was instructed in the use of InDesign for book, poster, and multi-page document layouts. My skills have been constantly updated to reflect upgrades to the software and I have been a guest speaker at several Multimedia classes at the University of Hartford.

Art History

I completed my BA in Art History from the University of Mass at Lowell in February of 1993. I specialized in Arms and Armors of the 12th through 18th centuries and received a full range of studio experience including drawing, painting, and photography.

Web Design

I have been working with Web Graphics and Websites for over 12 years and I have taught at Boston University's Center for Digital imaging Arts and am a regular guest presenter at the University of Hartford's Communications Department. I can help you create or edit graphics for the web, work with web editing software such as Dreamweaver, or write entire websites using code.

Photography

I have worked with digital and print photography for over 20 years. I studied under Arno Rafael Minkkinen and specialize in Art Photography. I also have extensive Photoshop knowledge and can help you correct and edit your photos and prepare them for the web after they are taken.
