I've been teaching since I was 14, when my martial arts studio paid me to run the tot and junior Saturday classes because my instructor's day job had taken over his Saturday afternoons.
More to the point, I began tutoring as an undergraduate at the University of New Hampshire at Manchester. I worked as both a writing and math tutor, covering writing across all subjects and math courses such as Introduction to Logic, Statistics in Psychology, and College Mathematics. I was trained over two single semester courses, several sessions were observed, and my hours were tracked. Before graduating, I received a Level Two Tutor Certification from the College Reading and Learning Association.
Since then, I have had several education roles. I spent a semester working with the Writing Center at Salem State University for course credit. I have worked as both a short term and long term substitute for teachers and paraprofessionals at all grade levels. While my tutoring experience is mostly with adults, I recently worked intensely for many months with a fifth grade girl who was struggling with material across the curriculum and am willing to work with any age group.
