Are you (or is your child) "math phobic"? Are you lost in math class, or stuck at the first sentence of a paper you have to write for Monday? Is your idea of organization "well, it's in there somewhere!"? Do you want to do better in school? Are you taking an honors class and want to excel? Do you have to pass college math and you were awful at it all through public school? Do you need someone to help with all subjects? with writing papers? with just getting through that mountain of work that you can't even figure out how to start?
I'll help...and we'll have fun doing it.
Note: My after-school-before-dinner time slots are currently fairly booked, but I have good availability most days during usual school hours, and may be able to squeeze in a later Wednesday time. I can also schedule occasional evening or weekend times, if you need just a few sessions for something such as test prep or a paper, but generally I offer time slots Mon-Fri.
I specialize in getting stuck problems unstuck. Helping people who didn't get it in class go AHA! Giving that extra boost of understanding, clarity, or organizational help so you can be the best student you can be.
I am a certified teacher in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts, MEd general special ed, HQT in math through algebra 1, English through HS level. I taught/tutored in public and special ed schools in NH for six years, mostly middle school through 9th grade, but also high school. I am a former technical writer (15 years) and computer programmer (8 years). I'm currently tutoring students privately and through WyzAnt, and loving it!
I'd be delighted to tutor either home or public schooled students in math, writing of any type, general subjects, and organization. Also adults who have "never been good at math" and must pass college pre-algebra or algebra 1. I have written a lot, professionally, and know how to help you organize and write anything you might need to write. I have worked with students with many special needs and assure you that you are all people first and foremost, and you can succeed! I am patient and have a quirky sense of humor; my students are often laughing as they learn. References on request.
