With over ten years of experience teaching I have worked with students from preschool through high school. I am currently employed as a special education teacher within a local school district. There I teach Writing, Language Arts, and Executive Function/Study Skills. In addition I have extensive experience writing IEP's and have served as an advocate for parents in different school districts. I look forward to meeting you and your child. Together we can find a way to make learning both fun and rewarding! Helping students succeed in areas they find challenging is what I do. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified special education teacher. I have developed and am teaching a course in Executive Function which I teach five days a week in a local middle school. Most of my students have been identified as having ADHD and others struggle with organization due to Autism. I read several books on this topic and recently completed a course which explored neurological reasons for students with ADHD to struggle as they demonstrate in the classroom. Several tools and strategies were revealed throughout the course - I utilized these frequently with the students with whom I work.
I worked in a school for students diagnosed with Autism for two years. I also have a master's degree in special education and have studied Autism for years. I am part of a special education team in a middle school and am the usual choice for supporting students diagnosed with Autism. One recent year - my case load was made up of 12 students on the spectrum.
I hold a certification in Elementary Education K -12 and a MEd in Education
I am a certified Elementary Education Teacher with a masters degree in both Elementary Education and Special Education who has taught 6th grade L.A. for years.

I teach phonics as part of the curriculum when I work with students who require specialized instruction in the area of phonics.
I am a special education teacher for a local NH school district. I have a master's degree in Education (Elementary and Special Education). I have taught students diagnosed with disabilities including: learning disabilities, autism, PDD-NOS, hearing impaired, vision impaired, multiple disabilities, ADHD, Down's Syndrome and others.
I have extensive experience helping middle school students learn study skills. I recently helped design and teach a course for 8th graders preparing to transition to high school. This course explicitly taught students: study skills, and self organization in addition to transition skills. As a current middle school special education teacher I work closely with students on a daily basis to ensure they are building on their organization skills. I look forward to helping students identify strategies to become more organized and independent learners. Lessons include why it is important to be organized, demonstrating successful methods and helping students select what will work best for them. Additional lessons include check lists, task charts, how to use a assignment notebook and/or technology to remain organized.
