I am trained in a number of remedial reading techniques including Orton Gillingham, Wilson and Lindamood-Bell. I love assisting students with autism, Asperger's syndrome, Irlen syndrome, ADD and ADHD to develop effective learning strategies according to their learning style.

I hold a Master's degree in Special Education, and have continued coursework to stay current in my field. I am an experienced teacher and I love it! I enjoy gardening, camping, boating, painting landscapes and seascapes, cooking, and sharing my home with my husband, my cats and a Westie.

Best of all, I love to help my students develop strategies, skills, and competencies.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have a masters degree in teaching school age children with special needs. I have been trained in techniques and instructional modifications specifically for students with the diagnosis of ADD and ADHD through additional coursework at Fitchburg State. I modify the length, variety, and delivery of my lessons, as needed for my individual students. I have received a commendation for my work with students with ADD from their parents.

Seeing progress everytime! — Barbara structures each lesson so that my 9th grade son can work along and feel successful at the end. She is very patient but does require him to demonstrate what he is learning. I am very pleased to have found a tutor that can work with him so well. ...
