Areas of Expertise...
I wrote the first book ever written on pre-college and college enrichment programs especially designed for high school students.
I have taken 21 credits of college-level English courses. I have also published a short story in The Madison Review (University of Wisconsin - Madison).
I studied marketing strategy at The Wharton School, and, as national marketing director, grew an educational publication from 50,000 issues per year to over 2,200,000 issues per year, making it the largest annual educational publication in the U.S.
I studied political philosophy at Oxford, and am well-versed in government, political science and U.S. History.
I founded Boston WordPress, and am very skilled in Web design and graphic design.
My approach to tutoring:
I believe that everyone can learn, and that a person can learn from everyone. Depending on the subject, I think it is important to first discern if the student has had an issue with the subject for an extended period of time. If so, then I think the learning approach should be slower, so that the student can incrementally build her/his confidence with the material. If the student's problem with the material is recent, then I think the material should be approached from a different, and fresh, perspective, until the student "sees," or truly understands, the material.
Note: If student is under 18, a parent/guardian must accompany the student to every tutoring session.
