My approach to tutoring:
I believe that everyone can learn, and that a person can learn from everyone. Depending on the subject, I think it is important to first discern if the student has had an issue with the subject for an extended period of time. If so, then I think the learning approach should be slower, so that the student can incrementally build her/his confidence with the material. If the student's problem with the material is recent, then I think the material should be approached from a different, and fresh, perspective, until the student "sees," or truly understands, the material.
Note: If student is under 18, a parent/guardian must accompany the student to every tutoring session.
