Hello!

If you are reading my profile, it is most likely because you are looking for tutoring (for yourself or your child) in middle school or high school mathematics (specifically, Pre-algebra, Algebra I and Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-calculus, and Trigonometry) or high school Physics, Biology, or Biochemistry. I am currently enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Omaha as a Pre-Medical Biology Major and will be graduating in the spring of 2015. During my time as a student at UNO, I have worked as a math tutor in several Omaha and Millard middle schools, and I am presently employed as a Math Teaching Assistant in the UNO Math Lab, where I work as a math tutor for fellow undergraduate students. Additionally, I have performed some free-lance tutoring in the sciences for both middle school and high school students. As a Pre-Medical Biology Major, I have taken classes in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, but really enjoy teaching Biology and Biochemistry. Although I do not desire to pursue teaching as a profession, I find it incredibly rewarding and fun! I do my very best to adjust my teaching techniques to each of my students' learning styles in order to make them feel at ease. Please contact me if you feel that I would be good fit for you or your student. Thank you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

As a middle school tutor, I typically taught students pre-algebra. However, I also worked with more advanced students and taught them the beginnings of Algebra 1.

Algebra 2

I have worked as a private tutor for high school students enrolled in Algebra 2.

Biochemistry

As a pre-medical student at UNO, I was required to take a one-semester course in Biochemistry. Specifically, the course was titled "Biochemistry of the Metabolism" and focused mainly on the biochemical processes that occur in living organisms.

Biology

As a Biology Major at UNO, I have taken college classes for Biology I, Biology II, Genetics, and Molecular Biology. I will continue to take upper level Biology courses over the next year and will graduate with a Bachelor of Sciences in Biology in spring 2015.

Geometry

I have tutored students in high school geometry, both during the school year and during the summer. Not only have I assisted students with their geometry curriculum, but also I have compiled my own lessons for students needing geometry review either after school has ended in the spring or before school has restarted in the fall.

Piano

I have been playing piano for over 12 years, and am very passionate about music! I was classically trained as a child and have spent time during the last 6 or so years playing keyboard on several church worship bands. Last summer and fall, I taught introductory piano lessons to both children and adults. I would continue to teach only introductory and intermediate lessons.

Prealgebra

During my first two years of undergraduate studies at UNO, I worked as a middle school math tutor in various Omaha and Millard middle schools, primarily teaching Pre-Algebra.
