Physical Science is one of my most cherished subjects. Since the young age of 10, I always had a natural curiosity regarding the physical world around me and constantly asking about how things are made, and what are they made of? How do they form?
Those questions, which are every kid’s questions, started to come together when I enrolled in Industrial Chemistry at the High School level and after 4 years, I got my diploma and worked as an analytical chemist at Lever Brothers in Brazil. After that, I was hired as supervisor of a formaldehyde production plant at another company.
I continue to seek answers to somewhat harder questions, like Astronomy, Space, Weather, and Seismology to mention a few.
Although I am a US citizen, I was born in Brazil. I worked in Portugal for 4 years and I have a good grasp of the Portuguese spoken in Portugal that is somewhat different than the Brazilian one.
At this point in time I'd say that officially that language spoken in Brazil is Portuguese; I would say that we really speak "Brazilian".
A good measure of the current language barrier between Brazil and Portugal, is clearly shown on the TV in Portugal. The Portuguese viewers usual complaint is that some Brazilian programs should be close-captioned.
I'm an avid book reader since my teens, with main interest in science issues like physics, astronomy, cosmology, quantum mechanics, universal history, science fiction, Dilbert, and least but not last... MAD magazine, (I know. It is not a book, but it's fun.
Soccer Moms and Dads are Welcome.
There is no certification for soccer. One starts to play and learns as it goes. Indoor soccer, with smaller ball, where dribble was the most important part and could get somewhat violent. In the official soccer field I played defense, offense and goalkeeper.
There is no certification for swimming or water-polo.
I used to swim everyday during summer vacations some 4Km daily in Olympic pool (50m x 25m).
After leaving swimming competitions I started out in water-polo where the college team I was won the college series.
I also have experience in swimming at the sea with or without snorkel.
Some 40 years ago I was an avid swimmer (since my teens) and got into a lot of competitions (won some, lost some).
Some time later I was invited to try Water polo. Well, it got me and I played for over 4 years, some of them on the college's water polo team. Unfortunately due to professional activities I had to stop playing.
