I have a broad background concerning my tutoring experiences, primarily in areas of mathematics, but also in physics. My educational background is very strong. I have a bachelor of science at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, where I double majored in math and physics and minored in German. I then earned a Masters degree in Astronautics from George Washington University, participating in an off campus program located at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. I then received a Masters and PhD in Physics at the University of Colorado in Boulder, performing research in theoretical atomic physics.
I also have a strong tutoring experience. I worked as a tutor for highly gifted students at Lincoln Public Schools for over 5 years, working one on one with elementary and middle school students in the areas of math and science. I worked six months as an on-line tutor in several subjects of math. I have tutored many college students face-to-face in various courses in math and physics.
My teaching style was initially formed from my farming background of practical problem solving and keeping things simple. It was enhanced after spending over a decade as a college student gaining much exposure to the worlds of mathematics, science, and engineering. I enjoy meeting students, learning their specific goals, then developing appropriate strategies (relying on both my broad educational backgrounds and research experiences) to achieve the student's desired goals.
