My name is Brandon and I am from Wilmington, North Carolina. In 2006, I graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in History. In 2008, I returned to UNC-Wilmington in order to receive my teaching license in Middle Grades Math. After completing my teacher internship at Williston Middle School where I taught 7th and 8th grade math, I subsequently received my NC teaching certification in 2010. After I finished school, I decided to move to the Republic of Georgia and teach English to all grades in a small public school. I was hired by the Georgian government as part of a program known as Teach and Learn with Georgia (TLG), to assist local Georgian English teachers and implementing new teaching methods.
Before I got there, local Georgian English teachers were only focused on reading and translating. I quickly added new methods where students' were able to practice their verbal and speaking skills. I often brought my IPod and computer to incorporate music and video into the lessons. The students seemed to enjoy this new style and I had a great time teaching them. In total, I spent 13 teaching in Georgia, while I lived with a family. This was the greatest experience, no matter what I do in the future; I will never forget my time in that wonderful country. With regards to my teaching style, my lessons will be focused on hand-on activities, while also making the topics relatable to everyday life.
