I have ten years educational experience with a solid background in Special/Alternative Education Programs. I am efficient in computerized systems with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I am able to rapidly recognize student conflict and the ability to problem solve, while demonstrating effective leadership skills. I am able to multi-task and am detail-oriented.
My previous employment experience includes ten years with Cobb County(GA) School District as GED Administrator/Instructor, Special Education Lead Teacher, Behavior Specialist/Interventionist and Mentor. My professional librarian experience includes Media Specialist, Branch Manager and Head Librarian. In addition, I taught Developmental Reading at Edgecombe Community College.
I earned a Specialist Degree from Clark Atlanta University in Library Services with a concentration in school media. In addition, I earned a Master's Degree from Clark Atlanta University in Library Services with a concentration in academic librarianship and and a Bachelor's Degree from Appalachian State University in Business Technology/Higher Education.
I served as a private tutor for five years. My subject areas are Reading, English, GED Pre-Algebra and Writing.My tutoring style is to go over the assignment, give a quiz to see if student has mastered the material and provide additional resources/materials for practice.
My professional honors and awards include Teacher of the Year, Cobb County School District, 2001-2002, Customer Service Award 2004, Student Government Association Award 2009 and Georgia's Teacher Nomination 2004.
