I have a B.A. degree in Visual Arts with a concentration in painting and a B.S. in Art Education. I have taught in the North Carolina Public School System for 4 years, and I am currently teaching middle school and high school art part-time at a private school. Children and adults of all ages have participated in my classes. I have developed programs for summer camps for children beginning at two years of age. A portfolio development class for teens is a class that I also teach and I absolutely ADORE it!
Helping high school students prepare a portfolio to apply to colleges and universities for acceptance into art programs is where my passion lies. I know what colleges and universities are looking for, and can ensure that students put forth a well-rounded visual representation of themselves.
Proofreading papers, especially within the art genre, is something that I also highly enjoy. The research writing process and organization of a paper are two aspects of writing that I am able to tutor. Writing doesn't have to be so scary!
I would consider myself an expert in painting and drawing, art theory, composition, and art history. Contemporary art museums intrigue me, and I visit them as often as I can. Just recently I returned from Spain, and traveling is a large part of my life. Currently, I am enrolled in a program to earn an M.A. in Museum Studies and am interested in implementing a community-art based art program with my school. Also, I can help you or your child to learn art history in a hands-on way by visiting a local art museum.
I can walk a student through a drawing or painting to solidify technique but I can also help you or your child find an inner voice!
Because learning art can be time consuming I am willing to tailor my hourly rate to fit your needs or a particular project or purpose. Please choose me! I enjoy nothing more than getting paid for what I LOVE to do.
