After completing my Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics, I earned my Masters in Computer Science from Steven's Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ. I joined the field Information Technology and my last position was that of Database Administrator (DBA). I taught Algebra/Finite Mathematics courses for a 1000+ hours at Ivy Tech Community College, Indianapolis, IN. I experienced different approaches to make things simple to understand.
I truly enjoy teaching to students who are serious and have decided to master Mathematics. Some students of High School/College level will have to revise a little bit of basics before trying to understand their current topics. My teaching is with reasoning, so a student should understand 'Why' they are doing things in addition to 'How', this way they do not have to remember the 'tip', 'trick' or 'shortcut'.
Unfortunately I am a serious teacher, so I do not have time for weather/sports/personal diversions. I believe religiously that in Mathematics practice is a requirement, even though at the time of learning the topic may look very easy (as I will present it that way). So students should be ready for homework, and we cannot move forward without completing it first.
After basics revised and a couple of months into new topics results can be visible, with a frequency of at least thrice a week of learning. Breaks in the schedule do not help at all (including my end).
Understanding mathematics should be an asset for life.
