I care about your unique qualities and educational needs. For ten years, I taught elementary students in a multi-age classroom and through that experience, my focus is on the individual: I offer custom-fit learning.

As a teacher of students from Grades 1-8, I supervised student teachers, and daily welcomed college students majoring in Education into my demonstration classrooms. I directed student plays, involving scenery, costumes and music.

My teaching style is organized and friendly. Streamlining lessons to meet your needs, coaxing your imagination and placing success within your reach, I strive to integrate what is important to you into my lessons.

Guitar

I teach beginning guitar to students of all ages, from 8 to 52. As a professional vocalist, I accompany myself on the guitar using an array of chords to audiences of as many as two hundred. I am an accomplished performer and know exactly how to make playing beginning guitar easy and fun!

Phonics

For ten years, I taught Phonics in grades 1-4 as a certified teacher. Presently, I teach six ESOL students as a volunteer in my community, using Phonics as a foundation to understand the written English language.

ESL/ESOL

I have experience teaching English as a Second Language. As as a volunteer with Reading Connections in Greensboro, for two hours, once a week, I taught a group of students from all over the world: Palestine, Thailand, Ethiopia and Mexico. They learned every-day word usage, grammar, phonetic spelling, reading and writing. We talked about individual cultures and traditions, and those in the United States. Public Speaking

I have spoken in public many times: as a grade school teacher, Sunday School teacher, Commencement speaker, radio DJ in Portland, ME (WMGX), as a spokesperson in several TV interviews, and speaking in church. I am a professional singer and have soloed with an orchestra, a swing band, and a folk group.

Cooking

With a great deal of experience in gourmet cooking, I started a successful business in catering that lasted for one summer. I was hired by individuals to prepare a meal in their home where, on average, six people would gather for a dinner party. I planned, prepared and served the meal in three courses. I know how to create many delicious vegetarian meals, meat dishes, and ethnic cuisine.
