I have a master's degree in Computer Science and a bachelor's degree in two fields, Mathematics and Physics. (The schools were Holy Cross College, and then Boston University Graduate School). I have been teaching and training children and adults in mathematics and computer skills for over 20 years.
I tutored children and adults in math in a transitional living situation for women who were learning algebra and geometry to obtain a G.E.D. I have also been a adjunct faculty member at University of Massachusetts-Lowell, teaching computer programming languages.
I worked for a tutoring company in New England, preparing students for their SATs, both the English and Math parts of the tests. Like most school material, this involved 'walkthroughs' of solutions of the problems in the tests, helping the student learn 'how to think through to the answer'.
I published a series of articles that explained technical topics, and learned a lot from the feedback from my readers. I find that there are many approaches to teaching when someone doesn't understand a concept. In one-on-one tutoring, no matter what the subject is, I find that nearly everyone can understand and master nearly anything, once the explanation matches up with the person's learning style.
I am looking forward to talking with you further about your educational needs.
