I have a Ph.D. in Toxicology and a B.S. in Biology. While there I used SAS, JMP and SigmaPlot. Since then I have been tutoring in how to use SPSS, Stata, R and MiniTab. I have also written two science textbook chapters and co-wrote another. I was a middle school and high school science teacher. I have recently released a free CourseSite. I have always loved science and solving problems. I have used MS office for almost 20 years and have tutored students using several different versions including for Macs. I currently tutor in Statistics, Biostatistics, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biology. I also tutor in how to use software programs including MS office programs (Excel,Word, PowerPoint, Access) and statistical software programs.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have a Ph.D. in Toxicology, I used algebra routinely for balancing equations as well as in computer programming and modeling. I am currently tutoring in math, statistics and how to use statistical programs.

Biochemistry

I have a Ph.D. in Toxicology with a focus on Molecular and Cellular Toxicology and a B.S. in Biology. Both degrees required Biochemistry courses.

I have taken many biochemistry courses, including Biochemical Toxicology, Biophysical Chemistry, and Principles of Biochemistry.

I have also written two textbook chapters related to biochemistry, and I am working on two more textbook chapters.

Biology

B.S. in Biology from NC State University
Ph.D. in Toxicology (a combination of biology and chemistry)
Former science teacher.
AP Biology tutor

Biostatistics

I took statistics for biological sciences as part of my B.S. in Biology. As part of my Ph.D. work I analyzed expression data from hundreds of human donors using statistical analysis software (e.g., JMP, SigmaPlot). After graduating I worked for the EPA where I looked at large data sets. I also worked for a company involved in IT contracts. As part of one the projects I started there I collected data from hundreds of clinical trial treatment arms and analyzed their toxicity and efficacy data. I am currently working on analyzing a subset of that data using R. I also help professionals learn how to use the statistical analysis software for their profession (e.g., SPSS for educators, MiniTab for bankers) and tutor undergraduate and graduate students in statistics.

Chemistry

B.S. in Biology. Courses included Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Biochemistry

Ph.D. in Toxicology with a focus on the metabolism of Xenobiotics (foreign chemicals)

Former Science Teacher

Genetics

I have a BS in biology where I earned eight hours in genetics by successfully completing Principles in Genetics, Elementary Genetics Lab, and Genetics in Human Affairs. I have a PhD in toxicology. As part of that work, I genotyped DNA from hundreds of human donors. While working on my PhD I also co-wrote a textbook chapter on Pharmacogenetics. Additionally I have worked with DNA from bacteria, fungi, plants, fish, and humans. I have sequenced DNA, amplified it using pcr, restricted it using enzymes, and designed custom primers.

GRE

I have a Ph.D. in Toxicology. I scored >80% quantitative GRE and scored >97% verbal GRE.

Organic Chemistry

I have a B.S. in Biology from North Carolina State University which included Organic Chemistry I and II. I was a Middle and High School Science Teacher and I have worked as a tutor before. I have a Ph.D. in Toxicology with a specialty in the metabolism of Xenobiotics (foreign chemicals).

Pharmacology

I have a Ph.D. in Toxicology. This includes pharmacology. I also worked as a Toxicologist for three years at the United States Environmental Protection Agency in Research Triangle Park, NC in their Pharmacokinetics branch. I also wrote a textbook chapter on the metabolism of xenobiotics (foreign chemicals).

SAT Math

College level math scores on the SAT during 7th grade. I scored over 80% on the quantitative section of the GRE. I have a Ph.D. in Toxicology that involved many math and logic problems.

Statistics

Ph.D. in Toxicology which involved parametric tests for cell-line data and non-parametric tests for human data.
Approved in SPSS and currently tutoring SPSS.
Have also used many other statistical programs (e.g., SAS, JMP, and SigmaPlot)

Study Skills

I was a Middle School Science teacher. I took courses such as Educational Psychology. I also taught Summer School for students who failed at least one class. At Summer School I taught basic study skills (e.g., looking up words they do not know in the dictionary).
